Despite this effort, the Pirates secured the win in the 11th inning. 

• San Diego Padres 8, Chicago Cubs 7: In a high-scoring affair at Wrigley Field, the Padres overcame an early deficit to defeat the Cubs. The game saw erratic pitching and defensive miscues, including two rare balks by Padres reliever Logan Gillaspie. The Mariners’ offense struggled, with their only run coming from a solo home run by Dylan Moore in the fifth inning. 

• New York Mets 2, Toronto Blue Jays 1: The Mets completed a series sweep of the Blue Jays, their first since 2001. Pete Alonso’s go-ahead single in the third inning proved decisive. The Mets’ bullpen covered the final 4 1/3 innings to secure the win. 

• Boston Red Sox 5, St. Louis Cardinals 4 (10 innings): In the first game of a doubleheader at Fenway Park, the Red Sox triumphed over the Cardinals in extra innings. The game was tied 4-4 after nine innings, and the Red Sox secured the win with a run in the 10th. 

• Detroit Tigers 4, Chicago White Sox 3: The Tigers completed a comeback victory over the White Sox, scoring three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning. Rookie pitcher Jackson Jobe allowed three runs over five innings, while Spencer Torkelson’s bases-loaded double was pivotal in the ninth-inning rally. 

• Miami Marlins 4, Atlanta Braves 0: The Marlins shut out the Braves, with strong pitching performances leading to the victory. 

• Oakland Athletics 7, Colorado Rockies 4: The Athletics secured a come-from-behind win against the Rockies.
