This is an honest conversation about Juan Soto and how a die hard Yankee fan really thinks of him.
Is Juan Soto a great player? Without a doubt!
Is Juan Soto worth the money he got? While I believe MLB contracts are getting ridiculous, there’s maybe a handful of people given the current climate, who deserve that money, yes, he’s worth it.
Here’s the thing, the Yankees really wanted Soto and at the end of the day, Soto really wanted to get paid. While the Yankee offer and Mets contract, dollar wise were the same, the AAV was very different. The Mets made a run to the NLCS last year and in my opinion, if that doesn’t happen or if the Mets had a losing season last year, I don’t think Soto goes to the Mets. I do believe in Soto’s mind, money was a 80% factor and winning was 20%, I stand by this.
Soto has made the decision to go to the Mets, who have a harder ballpark to hit in, limited stars on the lineup but their owner has deep pockets and is willing to overspend to get talent. How the tides have turned, the Evil Empire Yankees and George Steinbrenner had the reputation of buying all the players they wanted and ruined baseball, where’s the Steve Cohen hate? Whether Cohen is slowly ruining baseball with his overspending, that’s a different conversation.
The Mets are in the Bronx tonight for Sotos first Subway Series as a Met. He will be booed and he will receive immense hate by the Yankee fans.
He deserves it for just not being honest about taking the bag and acting like hitting with Aaron Judge isn’t better than either Alonso/Lindor.
Boo away, he deserves it, that’s all.
